Chicken Karahi Pakistani

Karahi means cooking pot It looks like a wok, Deep and flat. The traditional way to stay fry chicken in this karahi.

With this same method, you can make boneless chicken karahi. But I prefer chicken with bones. It makes more flavour full curries. Important to make boneless chicken breast in small pieces.

There are so many verities to make chicken karahi, Lahori chicken karahi, Mutton karahi, Peshawari karahi, Dhaba style karahi. Some karahi adds onion. traditional karahi recipe does not add onion. Use fresh ginger, and green chilis, and crush the black pepper cone.

1 whole chicken cut into medium pieces

2 large tomatoes chopped

1/2 cup thick yoghurt

2 tbsp black pepper powder

4 green chilis chopped

1 tbsp fresh ginger cut into Julin

1/2 cup oil

Salt to taste

Chicken Karahi Pakistani


In a cooking pot add oil once the oil is hot add all the chicken pieces. fry on high flame for 7 min, until chicken colour changes.

Now add tomatoes again on high flame and saute for 6 min until tomato becomes soft. Now add all chilis, black pepper, and ginger Julin mix very well again and saute for 5 min.

Chicken Karahi Pakistani

Add yoghurt mix and cover up. Cooking time 18 min medium flame. until chicken tender and soft.

Serve with tandoori naan, chapati, and bread.
