It is well established that red meat is a good source of iron and that is why it is recommended 3 to 4 time a week to meat iron requirement.

Protein also plays an important role in weight loss and weight maintenance as it contributes to the feeling of being full. and the iron alone is reason enough for pregnant women as iron is vital for the growth and development of the fetal brain.Protein also plays a role in a balanced diet, muscle mass, the production of antibodies and immune system. other key nutrients include vitamin D, which protect against rickets a degenerative bone disease caused by vitamin D deficiency.

Red meat, which includes beef, lamb, veal, is an excellent source of protein in the diet.On the other hand, it is also a major source of unhealthy saturated fat. Rather than trying to eliminate red meat from your diet completely, the solution is to eat its less often and to select the leanest cut possible.

1) Trim of all visible fat from the meat, place it on a rack, then grill and roast it. excess fat will drip down into the pan and can be discarded.
2) Use only light spray or brush of oil in a non- stick frying pan.

3) Try stir-fry dishes where a small amount of meat, cut up into tiny strips, goes a long way mixed in with lots of vegetables.

4)Cut down on the portion size of meat and fill up instead with extra helpings of vegetables and salads.

When eating out, order small portions or share large ones.
